Hiring Wilderness First Aid Instructors!

We’re currently recruiting Wilderness First Aid Instructors in British Columbia and Alberta. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoor professional or looking to transition into teaching first aid outdoors, Slipstream offers a unique blend of flexible work, strong community, and purpose-driven teaching.

The hurdles you have to hop-skip-jump over
- Complete our exciting Slipstream Advanced Wilderness First Aid course.
- Have professional outdoor experience (guide, park warden, instructor, etc.). Retired professionals are welcome, provided you have at least 5 years of relevant outdoor experience.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and people skills.
- Be eligible to work in Canada.
- Communicate confidently in English (it doesn’t have to be perfect!); additional languages are an asset.
- Create lesson plans and bring learning to life.
- Own a reliable vehicle (yes, your 2007 Volkswagen counts).
- Stay engaged in professional development through opportunities such as the Wilderness Medical Society, Wilderness Risk Management Conference, or other wilderness medicine/education events.
- Hold certifications such as EMR (preferred), Advanced First Aid (or equivalent 80-hour workplace program), Outdoor Emergency Care, NLS, Paramedic, RN, or MD – all considered strong assets.

Toys you’ll need to bring
- Laptop: For teaching, grading, and communicating with students in our Slipstream Online campus.
- Mobile phone: To coordinate with students and the Slipstream team.
- Textbooks: We’ll provide a list for you to order.
